The painting depicts a kingfisher (翡翠，hisui) perched gracefully on a slender willow branch. Its feathers feature rich, delicate colour gradations in blue-green, brown, and black-and-white. The eye and beak are finely detailed, reflecting the realistic tradition of Japanese bird-and-flower painting. The willow branches and leaves are rendered with simple, expressive brushwork and subtle ink tonal variations, creating an elegant contrast with the carefully painted kingfisher. Ample blank space (留白，yohaku) gives the composition a calm, quiet, and refined atmosphere. In the lower right corner is the artist’s cursive signature “Kansho (歓章)”, with a three-column square seal beneath it. The painting bears traces of previous mounting. Due to its age, the silk shows natural age-related toning, discoloration and minor surface scratches. Overall, it is in good condition.
