Stout & Zn. - Figurine - Ceremonial Carriage with Horses - .835 Silber

Dutch Silver Miniature Ceremonial Carriage with Horses – Stout & Zn, Rotterdam, ca. 1955 Finely crafted Dutch silver miniature ceremonial carriage, made in the Netherlands around 1955 by Stout & Zn, C.A. Rotterdam, a registered Dutch silversmith active between 1940 and 1962. The piece is executed in solid silver, 835/1000 standard, confirmed by the Dutch hallmark of the walking lion. The miniature depicts an elegant horse-drawn carriage, richly detailed with coach body, wheels, coachman and a team of horses. Notably, the carriage is surmounted by a crown, indicating a ceremonial or royal-inspired design rather than an everyday coach. Such crowned carriages were commonly used in Dutch silver miniatures of the mid-20th century to evoke royal, court or state symbolism, especially in commemorative and decorative objects. Silver miniatures like this were traditionally created as collectible decorative pieces or prestigious gifts, reflecting the craftsmanship and national symbolism of the post-war period. Material: Solid silver (835/1000) Origin: The Netherlands Silversmith: Stout & Zn, C.A. Rotterdam Period: ca. 1955 Height: approx. 4 cm Width: approx. 2.5 cm Length: approx. 14 cm Weight: approx. 98 grams Very good condition. The piece has been carefully polished. Due to the highly detailed and intricate design, some recessed areas are naturally difficult to reach during cleaning, which is typical for silver miniatures of this complexity. No damage or repairs observed. A charming and collectible example of mid-20th-century Dutch silver craftsmanship, with a royal-inspired ceremonial character, ideal for collectors of silver miniatures or fine decorative silver.
