Wikingerzeit Bronze Anhänger mit Triskelion-Motiv - 52 mm (Ohne mindestpreis)
An attractive example of Viking Age bronze ornament combining symbolic triskelion decoration with characteristic articulated pendant elements.
Circa 8th–11th century AD
Height: 52 mm Width: 22 mm
Material: Cast bronze.
Condition: Good condition considering age. The piece displays a stable green patina consistent with age. Minor surface wear and casting irregularities visible. The articulated elements remain intact and movable. No visible modern repairs.
Viking Age bronze pendant comprising a suspension loop above a trilobed upper element decorated with three raised spiral bosses arranged in a triskelion formation. Below, two articulated chain elements terminate in bell-shaped pendants, creating a balanced and dynamic composition.
The upper section features a triple-spiral (triskelion) motif, a design associated in early medieval Northern Europe with cyclical movement and symbolic continuity. Triple motifs are well attested in Viking Age decorative art and reflect the aesthetic preference for rhythmic, flowing ornament.
The lower articulated drops resemble small bell-like pendants. Such dangling elements were common in Viking Age jewellery and dress fittings, where movement would enhance visual impact and possibly create a subtle sound when worn.
