Sagano no Tsuki (嵯峨野の月) - Nakai Shiro (中井史郎) - Japan (Ohne mindestpreis)

Title: Sagano no Tsuki (嵯峨野の月) Artist: Nakai Shiro (中井史郎) Technique: Silk screen print Hand-signed and sealed by the artist Pencil-numbered limited edition: 36/100 Paper size: 55.2 × 39.5 cm (21.7 × 15.6 in) Image size: 40.0 × 29.7 cm (15.7 × 11.7 in) Mat size: 60.4 × 45.5 cm (23.8 × 17.9 in) Material: Washi (和紙) This poetic print is by Nakai Shiro (中井史郎), a leading figure in modern Japanese printmaking and member of the Nika-kai (二科会) art association, created circa 1970–1980s. He specialized in interpreting traditional Japanese landscapes through a modern printmaking language. Against a deep blue night sky, a bright full moon hangs high, casting its reflection on the water. The middle ground features rolling hills of Sagano covered with pine trees, while the foreground shows swaying pampas grass and a traditional Japanese structure by the water. The composition evokes a quiet, profound atmosphere of a moonlit night in Kyoto. Using modernist flat color blocks and geometric forms, the work combines the poetic spirit of traditional Japanese landscape with the formal beauty of modern printmaking. Pencil-signed and sealed by the artist in the lower right; pencil-numbered 36/100 in the lower left. This piece retains its original backing board (the original heavy frame has been removed; the backing board preserves the artist’s resume sticker and also protects the work during shipping).Scuff marks to the top of the mat aperture; the print itself is intact and undamaged. Due to age, the paper shows minor signs of aging such as slight toning; overall condition is good. This print is sold unframed; the photograph shows a suggested framing example only.
