The figure is shown seated in meditation, surrounded by multiple arms holding ritual attributes, delicately rendered within a compact relief format. The work was created in 1957 (Showa 32) to commemorate the completion and consecration of the shoin at Komyō-in Temple. The original model was designed by Ozaki Issō, a noted Showa-period sculptor active in Buddhist art and sculpture, who held non-competitive exhibitor status at the Nitten exhibitions. His refined modelling is evident in the calm facial expression, the layered iconography, and the balanced composition achieved within the shallow relief. The reverse bears a clearly carved inscription recording the year, the temple name, and the dedication, giving the piece strong documentary and historical value beyond its devotional role. Over time, the surface has developed a deep, subdued patina that enhances the sculptural details and lends the work a quiet, dignified presence. There is natural age-related patina, light surface wear, and minor verdigris in places, consistent with its age. Overall, it remains in good preserved condition. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx.
