Exquisites Wajima-Lack-Fumibako — Herbstgräser-Makie & Perlmutt-Einlage, mit Originalbox - Holz, Lack - Japan - 1900–2000

Item Description This elegant Fumibako (letter box) is a masterpiece of Wajima Lacquerware (輪島塗), one of Japan's most celebrated lacquer traditions designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Heritage. Produced by Tsutsujiya Lacquerware Store (通筋漆器店), a distinguished atelier based in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, this refined piece exemplifies the pinnacle of Japanese lacquer craftsmanship. The lid is adorned with a graceful Akikusa Makie (秋草蒔絵) design — a classic autumn grasses motif rendered in delicate gold lacquer work (maki-e), depicting seasonal wildflowers and foliage in the refined aesthetic of Japanese art. Further embellished with raden (螺鈿) — inlaid mother-of-pearl — the design shimmers with an iridescent luminescence that brings the autumnal scene to life. The box is finished in a deep, lustrous black lacquer ground, which magnificently contrasts with the golden makie decoration and the natural iridescence of the shell inlay. The interior is lined in a warm vermillion lacquer, characteristic of fine Wajima ware. The piece comes with its original tomobako (共箱) — a dedicated wooden storage box with a label in the maker's own hand. This fumibako is a collector-worthy objet d'art that exemplifies the beauty of traditional Japanese craft, and would serve equally well as a display piece or a refined storage box for precious correspondence or accessories. Size Height: 9 cm Width: 25 cm Depth: 30 cm Weight 1,342 g Condition The piece is in excellent pre-owned condition with no notable scratches or stains; the lacquer surface, makie decoration, and raden inlay are all well-preserved and display the original luster beautifully. NOTICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
