Spinosaurus-Onchopristis - Fossiler Zahn - 5.8 cm (Ohne mindestpreis)
The presented fossil pair is representative of the amazing predator-prey relationship unfolding in the swamps of what is now much of North Africa in Upper Cretaceous 95 Million years ago. This is the fierce Spinosaurus hunting the giant Onchopristis. Spinosaurus was enormous around 18 meters long and weighing 9 tonnes and Onchopristis was by no means small either as it weighed 1.5 tonnes and around 26 feet long.
The curved fossil with the large root is that of Onchopristis (5.8 cm long) while the one which is conical is that of Spinosaurus (4.7 cm long).
Its not clear whether the Onchopristis teeth is repaired at the middle point or its the natural sand. Even if it is repaired its in overall good shape. The top barb of Onchopristis is eroded away probably due to retrieval of fossil revealing the inside of fossil at the top which is interesting in its own way. Apart form the top, the root part is also very interesting of Onchopristis as it resembles flower bud of some sort.
The Spinosaurus teeth is characteristic conical and in fully natural state. As can be seen both of the fossil underside has pink-red color which is attributed to Iron(Fe) compounds which adds to the beauty of these fossils.
The shine of both the fossils is natural and no conservation or other material is applied as such.
