Two Bird Figures Used as Stoppers on Medicine Jars
A finely carved pair of wooden bird figures, originally serving as stoppers for medicine jars. Such objects were traditionally associated with ritual healing practices and the safeguarding of powerful substances. The birds likely held symbolic meaning, possibly connected to protection, spirit mediation, or ancestral presence.
The figures show careful hand-carving and a strong, expressive form. A beautiful example of functional ritual art, combining practical use with spiritual significance.
Wood. Good aged condition with expected wear consistent with use and age.
