Ferrari - Gilles Villeneuve - 1979 - Replik-Helm

1979 Ferrari - Gilles Villeneuve - GPA helmet. Gilles Villeneuve was a Canadian racing driver, who spent six years in formula one racing with McLaren and Ferrari, winning six races and getting widespread acclaim for his performances. Villeneuve started his Formula 1 at McLaren in 1977 before he was taken on by reigning world champions Ferrari for the end of the season and drove for the Italian team from 1978 until his death in 1982. He won six Grand Prix races in a short career at the highest level. In 1979, he finished second by four points in the championship to teammate Jody Scheckter. Villeneuve died in a crash caused by a collision with the March car driven by Jochen Mass during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder. Villeneuve was extremely popular with fans and has since become an iconic figure in the history of the sport. His son, Jacques Villeneuve, became a Formula One world champion in 1997 and, to date, the only Canadian to win the Formula One World Championship. Here we offer a very nice Gilles Villeneuve GPA (with no straps) helmet. This helmet recreates the helmet Gilles used during the 1979 season driving for Scuderia Ferrari. The helmet is in very good to mint condition with a red interior. It has been expertly painted in Gilles’ stand out helmet patern and colours: the typical red orange from that time combined with the very dark blue (almost black) metallic. As you can see this helmet has no chin strap like normal helmets, it closes with the two half round clamps on the bottom, it has a lock mechanism with two buttons to open. This fantastic and special helmet will look perfect in any motorsport or F1 collection, man cave, home, or office. Please have a good look at the photographs they are the best description of this item, it will be sent quickly after payment very well packed and with track and trace.
