Wajima-nuri-Chinkin-Lack-Jubako – 5-stöckig, goldene Kiefer, verpackt - Japan - 20. Jahrhundert
A striking Noto Wajima-nuri jubako (stacked food box), finished in a deep mirror-black urushi lacquer and decorated with elegant gold chinkin carving—an exceptionally refined technique where lines are cut into the lacquer surface and filled with gold to create a luminous, permanent design.
The motif is classic auspicious Japan: a sweeping pine (matsu) with seasonal blossoms and grasses, rendered across the stacked tiers so the picture “connects” when the box is assembled. Open it, and you’re met with a vivid vermilion interior, the traditional contrast prized in formal Japanese tableware. The included compartment tray/dividers make it ideal for Osechi Ryori (New Year cuisine), kaiseki-style presentation, or as a high-end display piece in a lacquerware collection.
Estimated period (AD year)
