The composition showcases a harmonious balance of flora and fauna, combining the grace of flowers with the liveliness of sparrows. On the left, large blooming peonies emerge from behind a weathered rock, symbolising wealth, honour, and feminine beauty in East Asian art. On the right, slender stalks of iris bloom with vibrant blue-purple hues, often associated with protection and purification. Below them, dianthus flowers (also known as pinks) represent love, admiration, and delicate strength. Throughout the scene, sparrows flutter playfully—birds long associated with vitality, cheerfulness, and the comforts of everyday life. The scene is executed with fine brushwork and refined colouration, reflecting the artist’s careful attention to seasonal aesthetics. The signature and red seal of Kōka (香霞) appear in the lower right corner. There are signs of ageing, including wear, small tears, stains, and areas of repair. The reverse side shows tape reinforcement and damage. The black lacquered wooden frame also has scratches, lacquer losses, and missing metal fittings. Please refer to the photos for the condition details. Dimensions: approx. H 152 cm W 142 cm D 1.8 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
