The bull is captured at the supreme moment of concentrated force: head thrust low, neck muscles coiled with tension, four massive hooves planted wide, and the body surging forward in an unstoppable charge. Every anatomical detail — the swelling haunches, the deep crease of the neck, the tapered horns, the curling tail — is rendered with confident, flowing sculptural authority. The surface is finished in a rich, deep reddish-brown patina known as akayaki-iro (赤焼色), achieved through Takaoka's celebrated chemical coloring process in which natural compounds react with the bronze to produce a warm, burnished depth that deepens and matures beautifully with age.
