Art Nouveau Cameo Glass Vase with Landscape – Gallé Style / Possibly Legras (France), c. 1900–1930**
Elegant multi-layer cameo glass vase depicting a stylized forest landscape with trees reflected on water at sunset. The piece features a beautiful color gradient transitioning from soft pink at the rim to warm yellow and deep orange tones toward the base, creating a luminous effect that enhances the scenic decoration.
The design is created using the cameo glass technique, where an upper colored glass layer is acid-etched or carved to reveal the lighter glass beneath, forming the silhouettes of trees, foliage, and the horizon line. This technique became highly popular during the Art Nouveau period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, inspired by the work of Émile Gallé and produced by renowned French glassmakers such as Daum and Legras.
The vase has a rounded body with a short neck and a softly frosted upper section that blends beautifully with the carved landscape motif. The base shows a polished pontil mark, indicating hand-blown glass with hand finishing, typical of quality decorative glassware from the period.
Unsigned, which is common for many decorative French cameo glass pieces of this type.
