Description
This bronze finger ring is attributed to the Medieval Crusader period (approximately 12th–13th century AD). The oval bezel is engraved with a geometric star-like motif composed of intersecting linear elements surrounded by small dotted impressions.
Such star compositions, particularly when accompanied by dotted elements, appear in several decorative traditions of the medieval Eastern Mediterranean. In some cases, similar radiating motifs have been associated with symbolic imagery linked to knightly and religious orders active in the Crusader states, including visual forms reminiscent of star patterns connected with the Knights of Malta (Hospitaller Knights).
The dotted elements surrounding the central star may have served to emphasize the radiating structure of the symbol, possibly enhancing its visual or symbolic significance. The ring’s simple form and engraved bezel are consistent with personal ornaments worn within the culturally diverse environment of the Crusader-era Eastern Mediterranean.
