A striking ceremonial headdress made of tapa cloth and black cassowary feathers, originating from the Lake Sentani region of West Papua and collected in the 1970s. Headdresses of this type were worn during important tribal ceremonies and festive gatherings, where elaborate body adornment played a central role in expressing status, identity, and spiritual connection. The use of cassowary feathers—highly valued for their dramatic appearance—gives the piece a powerful visual presence.
