Ein sechspaniger Byōbu (屏風) mit Kachō-ga (花鳥画)-Verzierung - Papier, Goldstaub - Japan - Meiji-Zeit (spätes 19. Jahrhundert)
A six-panel Byōbu folding screen painted on paper with a gold powder ground framing each scene, decorated with naturalistic compositions of flowers, birds, and animals.
From left to right: a marsh landscape with irises and a small bird; a group of flowers with butterflies in flight; a flowering branch with roses and small birds; a sinuous tree with foliage and a cockatoo among the branches; a cat playing with a peacock feather beneath a blooming peony; and finally a flowering camellia branch with a small bird.
The overall composition recalls the traditional theme of kachō-ga (花鳥画), dedicated to flowers and birds, here enriched by the presence of other elements from the natural world.
The screen is finished with a lacquered wooden frame.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
--- The byobu is in good condition. Minor signs of age and wear to the lacquered frame.
Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
