Bizen ware sake flask by Joji Yamashita (山下 譲治), fired in the traditional anagama kiln technique. The surface shows natural ash effects and warm reddish-brown tones characteristic of Bizen ware. Accompanied by the original tomobako (signed wooden box) and shiori. Artist Profile Joji Yamashita(山下 譲治) Born in 1947 in Bizen, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. He studied ceramics in Kyoto, focusing on modern ceramic art, and later trained under established Bizen ceramic artists. After building his own kiln in Bizen, he actively exhibited his works and was repeatedly selected for major national exhibitions, including the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition. He became a member of the Japan Kōgei Association. His work is rooted in traditional Bizen ware techniques, particularly anagama firing, highlighting natural ash effects and the raw character of the clay. Condition Good condition. Unused and carefully stored. There is a small chip on the rim, visible in the photos. The surface shows natural kiln marks and age-appropriate characteristics consistent with traditional Bizen ware. Joji Yamashita(山下 譲治)

Born in 1947 in Bizen, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
