Kutani-Ware (九谷焼) Matcha-Teeschale (Chawan) „Ren-zan“ (連山) - Töpferei - Eiho (栄峰) - Japan - Heisei Zeit (1989-heute)

Kutani Ware(九谷焼) Matcha Bowl “Ren-zan” (Mountain Range)-Eiho (栄峰) This elegant Kutani ware matcha bowl by Eiho captures the quiet grandeur of distant mountain ranges, expressed through delicate gradations of color and refined glaze technique. Unlike highly ornate Kutani pieces, this work reveals a sophisticated restraint, allowing subtle tones and atmospheric brushwork to evoke a poetic landscape that unfolds gently across the surface. The softly layered silhouettes of mountains, rendered in warm earthy hues fading into misty tones, create a sense of depth and perspective rarely seen in tea bowls. This painterly composition recalls traditional Japanese ink landscapes, translating their spirit into ceramic form. The finely crackled glaze (kannyū) enhances the visual texture, catching light softly and giving the surface a living, breathing quality. The form is carefully balanced: a stable foot, smooth rim, and harmonious curvature ensure both aesthetic presence and comfort in the hands — an essential characteristic for tea ceremony vessels. The interior remains calm and luminous, designed to frame the vibrant green of matcha beautifully when prepared. Signed on the base with the artist’s mark 「栄峰」, the bowl reflects the refined sensibility of Kutani artisans who value elegance, subtlety, and poetic atmosphere over excessive decoration. [Size] Height 7.5cm Diameter 11.3cm [Condition] Excellent condition. A box is also included. Please check the photos before bidding. Any taxes related to international shipping must be borne by the purchaser. ※Recently, there has been an increase in products being returned to Japan without paying customs duties and consumption tax upon receipt. Occasionally, customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you for customs clearance via phone or email. Kindly ensure you are available to respond.
