Pink and Marble Vase Reminiscent of Planets This striking piece features a striking pink and marbled pattern. Crafted using the Japanese technique of "Neriage," the vase is made by combining several different colored clays like a puzzle, kneading them together to create patterns, which are then molded and fired. Accented with blue, white, and brown marble, it creates a dreamlike impression, almost like viewing planets. The artist is Kuniaki Azuma (1941-). He is highly acclaimed for his "neriage" technique. He uses unique glazes and creates ceramics. He is skilled at expressing kneading and marbled patterns down to the finest lines. His unique application of glazes makes the ceramics easy to mistake for glass. This piece also features a beautifully applied glaze on the back and inside of the vase.
