Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Matsunoo Myojin
Carved as part of the Bicchu Kagura tradition, this wooden mask represents Matsunoo Myōjin, the sake‑brewing deity who, under Susanoo’s command, prepares the potent liquor intended to subdue the eight‑headed serpent. The broad smile, rounded cheeks, and lively facial lines give the mask a warm, festive presence, reflecting his role as both a guardian of fermentation and the most playful figure in Kagura performance. The expressive contours and hand‑worked textures highlight the folk‑craft roots of the piece, while the exaggerated features enhance its theatrical charm. Within a collection or interior, the mask brings a bright, convivial energy—its cheerful expression and mythic association with sake adding cultural richness and a sense of celebratory warmth to the space.
