Kjo - Funakoshi Yasutake - Skulptur Bronze, Marmor - Japan (Ohne mindestpreis)

Kjo K嬢 (Kじょう) | Funakoshi Yasutake 舟越保武 (ふなこしやすたけ) Description: This sculpture is a work by Yasutake Funakoshi. Funakoshi did not create his works while looking at a model; instead, he kept the figure of the model in his memory. By expressing the image in his memory in an idealized form, Funakoshi's unchanging thoughts were given shape. Together with the sculptor Churyo Sato, whom he met during his time at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, he formed a lifelong friendship and led the post-war Japanese sculpture world. After graduation, he began marble sculpture and released numerous works that attracted attention. Among them, his works based on Christian faith and the martyrdom of Christians were unsurpassed by others. Although he collapsed from a cerebral infarction in 1987 and became paralyzed on the right side of his body, he continued to create works with his left hand until just before his death. Artist Profile: 1912: Born in Iwate Prefecture. 1939: Graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo School of Fine Arts. 1967: Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. 1973: Received the Order of St. Gregory the Great from the Pope. 1984: Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette. 1999: Named a Person of Cultural Merit. 2002: Passed away (age 89).
