This is a vase by Fujihira Shin (1922-2013) from Japan. A Kyoto-based artist, he established a unique position in contemporary Japanese ceramics as a "poet of ceramics." His works transcend the boundaries of mere vessels, incorporating elements of sculpture and painting to develop a unique, poetic, and narrative worldview. In Japan, these vases are sold for approximately 1000 to 3000 euros. They are rare due to the limited number of pieces available. This piece, too, depicts a single flower swaying in the wind. The lower part of the vase features finely applied green glaze representing the earth, while the larger green glaze on the upper part seems to represent the sky. It evokes a landscape. His works, expressing the dynamism of nature, possess a warmth to them. The unique melancholy evokes the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.
