The ground is a warm, creamy beige lacquer rather than the more common black or red, which gives the piece a lighter and more seasonal feeling. The surface has a smooth, glossy finish that softly reflects light, enhancing the calm and elegant tone of the piece. The decoration is composed of delicate maki-e motifs depicting grasses and small plants, arranged around the lower body. The plants are rendered in a combination of gold and green tones, with fine lines suggesting slender stems and leaves. The use of green lacquer adds a fresh, natural accent, while the gold elements provide subtle brightness without overwhelming the composition. The design is airy and well-spaced, leaving much of the surface open and uncluttered. On the lid, a dragonfly is depicted in a simple yet refined manner.
