◎ This mini chest is a lacquerware piece that expresses the atmosphere of a raw urushi-style finish, characterized by a transparent to semi-transparent coating that enhances the natural wood grain.

Ki-urushi refers to lacquer sap collected from the urushi tree, which is filtered to remove impurities and has a milky white to brown (amber-like) transparency.
While general lacquerware often uses opaque coatings such as black or vermilion lacquer, this mini chest emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood itself, making the variations in grain and knots the central aesthetic feature of the piece.

On the surface of the mini chest, gold makie decoration depicts a flower basket containing clematis and kikyo flowers.
The symbolic meanings of clematis are “spiritual beauty” and “beauty of the heart.”
Kikyo represents “unchanging love,” “sincerity,” “elegance,” and “eternal love.”
