Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Item Description:
A matched pair of bamboo flower vases (hana-ire), each designed for dual use as both a hanging vase (kake) and a standing vase (oki), finished in lacquer — a pairing well-suited to the tea room (chashitsu) or tokonoma (decorative alcove) setting.
The set comprises two pieces of distinctly different character.
The first is a kikko-chiku (tortoiseshell bamboo) vase — a naturally occurring variety of bamboo prized for the distinctive knobbly, segmented surface of its culm, which resembles tortoiseshell.
The warm golden-brown natural patterning of the kikko surface gives this piece a refined, organic beauty, and it is fitted with a copper water insert (otoshi).
The second is a woven bamboo (take-ami) vase of cylindrical form, with a finely plaited bamboo exterior surface and a resin water insert.
Both pieces are lacquer-finished, giving a unified, elegant presentation.
Together they offer a complementary contrast — the natural, sculptural irregularity of the kikko-chiku set against the measured geometry of the woven piece — making this an ideal display set for ikebana or chabana flower arrangement in the Japanese tea ceremony tradition.
Size
Woven bamboo vase (take-ami):
Height: 18.5 cm
Width: 12 cm
Depth: 12 cm
Kikko-chiku vase:

Depth: 8 cm
Weight
393 g (both pieces combined)
Condition
Shows minor scuffs and soiling consistent with use and age. No major damage to either piece. Both water inserts (otoshi) are present — copper in the kikko-chiku vase, resin in the woven vase.
