A pair of Imari porcelain vases with globular bodies and elongated necks, decorated in vivid red enamels with karakusa scroll motifs, circular reserves depicting birds and seasonal flowers, and rich floral ornamentation.
Each vase is encircled by white dragons in relief winding sinuously around the body and neck, with finely modeled scales and red whiskers.
Painted mark under the base: Hichōzan.
The vase is in very good condition, with minor wear, kiln flaws and firing cracks on the dragons.
The cracks visible along the dragons are not restorations, but original firing flaws that developed during the cooling process after firing. In some areas they are barely noticeable, while in others—particularly along the dragons' tails, where the elements are thinner—they are more pronounced.
The application of relief elements is a rather rare feature, probably due to the considerable technical difficulty involved in firing enamel on three-dimensional protruding parts.
Please refer to the pictures for further details.
---The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL express. BRT or FedEx.
The original certificate of authenticity issued by our gallery will be provided to the buyer.
