Vintage Japanese Black Raku Matcha Tea Bowl by Sasaki Shoraku – Kyoto Raku Ware
An exquisite vintage Black Raku (Kuro-Raku) matcha chawan (tea bowl) crafted by the renowned Kyoto ceramic artist, Sasaki Shoraku (佐々木昭楽).
Raku ware is one of Japan's most prestigious ceramic traditions, deeply tied to the philosophy of the Japanese Tea Ceremony (Chado) and Zen Buddhism. This bowl features the characteristic, deep black glaze that beautifully contrasts with the vibrant green of whisked matcha. Its organic, hand-molded form fits comfortably and warmly into the hands, embodying the aesthetic of wabi-sabi (beauty in imperfection and simplicity).
The bottom of the bowl bears the official stamped mark (seal) of the Shoraku kiln. It is in excellent vintage condition with no noticeable cracks or chips, reflecting careful preservation over the years. Perfect for both practical use in a traditional tea ceremony and as a sophisticated collector's piece.
