This exquisite original lithograph is created by Ōyama Chūsaku, a renowned contemporary Japanese printmaker. It is selected from the series Ōyama Chūsaku Original Lithograph Masterpieces: Two Crane Works (大山忠作原创石版画名作集・鶴二題), published by Mainichi Newspapers in 1980 (Shōwa 55). It ranks among the classic masterpieces of modern Japanese animal-themed prints.
Designed in a minimalist and elegant modern style, the work portrays a red-crowned crane soaring with outstretched wings. The crane’s plumage is pure white, paired with deep black flight feathers and a striking bright red crown. The background adopts gradual blending of blue, grey and gold tones, shaping an ethereal and vast sky. The piece embodies the poetic charm of Eastern aesthetics, as well as the delicate textural quality typical of modern lithographs.
In Japanese and broader Asian culture, the red-crowned crane symbolises longevity, good fortune and noble integrity. As a classic artistic motif with profound traditional connotations, it is highly popular among collectors.
This is a limited edition piece, numbered 145 out of 350 (145/350). The print features the artist’s handwritten pencil signature 「忠作」 and original red seal, with complete edition markings. The storage box is printed with the artwork title and artist details.
The item is presented with its original solid wood frame and acrylic panel, together with the dedicated original box and yellow dust cloth sleeve. All original accessories are fully intact.
The frame bears minor scuffs and small dents, and there is one damaged area on the backboard. The original box shows signs of age and a single damaged spot. Due to natural ageing, the paper has slight toning and minor creases. Overall condition is good.
