Rare French Art Deco Wall Sconce by Degué (Compiègne) – ca. 1926/1930
An authentic and highly collectible French Art Deco wall sconce (applique) from the late 1920s / early 1930s. This exquisite piece features a heavy, thick-walled frosted glass shade produced by the famous glassworks Verrerie d'Art Degué, founded by David Guéron (1892–1950).
The Glass Shade:Design: Stunning cubist and geometric relief pattern with sharp crystalline structures and stylized stars.Signatures: This rare early piece features a double signature. It is molded with the crisp artist signature "Degué" on one side, and the rare early factory location "COMPIÈGNE" on the other, dating its production precisely to the early years of the foundry (circa 1926–1930).Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No cracks, no deep chips, and no restoration. The relief is sharp and clear.The Fixture / Mount:Material: Heavy cast bronze or solid brass with a beautiful, authentic matte nickel-plated finish.Design: Elegant Art Deco styling featuring a tiered arm ending in a stylized volute, attached to a classic fan-shaped (sunburst) wall plate.Electricity: The sconce has been professionally rewired for safety and modern standards.
