This lot consists of seven authentic vintage Japanese glass fishing floats, each preserved in its original rope netting.

These floats were traditionally used by Japanese fishermen throughout the early to mid-20th century, when hand-blown glass floats were essential tools for marking fishing nets in coastal waters.

Each float was individually mouth-blown, resulting in natural variations in shape, thickness, and colour. The glass shows characteristic features of traditional production, including:

• scattered air bubbles
• subtle waviness in the glass
• irregular thickness
• slight asymmetry from hand-forming

These organic features are highly appreciated by collectors as they reflect the authentic handmade process.
