Rahmen - Holz

Rectangular frame for a painting, made of molded wood and decorated in bas-relief (impressed plaster), gilded. The ornament, which echoes the patterns of Baroque and Neo‑Rococo cabinetmaking traditions, runs along the four pilaster-like elements with a sinuous wavy flow and crumpled cartouches, enriched by stylized acanthus leaf motifs that culminate at the centers and in the four corners in small projecting pinnacles.

The inner rabbet is smooth and linear, creating a clear visual separation from the animated ornamentation of the outer profile. At the back, the frame shows a linear workshop construction of the twentieth century, entirely lacquered with a dark priming color (black) intended to stabilize the wood and, by contrast, to highlight the gold finish on the front.
