A striking Japanese bronze bud vase (kabin) in the classic taller-shouldered "tankobin" silhouette, produced in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture — Japan's foremost center for cast bronze art objects (Takaoka Dōki) since 1609. The vase displays a lustrous emerald-green iridescent patina achieved through traditional chemical coloring techniques, accented with scattered flecks of gold and warm copper-red tones that catch the light beautifully across the bulbous body and trumpet-flared neck.
The base bears an engraved presentation inscription reading "Commemorating a Meritorious Service Award, Sumida Ward, May 15, 1995 / Heisei 7", indicating this piece was produced as an official commemorative gift — a testament to the high regard in which Takaoka bronzeware is held for ceremonial and award presentations in Japan.
