'Lee Friedlander, geboren 1934, ist ein amerikanischer Fotograf und Künstler. In den 1960er und 1970er Jahren entwickelte Friedlander eine einflussreiche und oft imitierte visuelle Sprache des urbanen „social landscape“, wobei viele seiner Aufnahmen Fragmente von Schaufensterreflexionen, von Zäunen gerahmte Strukturen, Plakate und Straßenschilder enthielten. Sein Werk zeichnet sich durch eine innovative Nutzung von Rahmung und Reflexion aus, wobei er oft die natürliche Umgebung oder architektonische Elemente benutzt, um seine Motive zu rahmen. Im Verlauf seiner Karriere erhielt Friedlander zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und seine Arbeiten wurden in bedeutenden Museen und Galerien weltweit ausgestellt (The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
