Vintage Boxwood Netsuke — Recumbent Ox (Ushi), Signed Matsuyama

A finely carved boxwood netsuke depicting a recumbent ox in a naturalistic curled pose. The curved horns are rendered with fine ridged detail, and the eyes are inlaid for a lifelike expression. Fur texture is carved along the neck, chin, and legs, giving the piece a soft, tactile quality despite its wood medium.

The underside bears the signature "Matsuyama" (松山), along with two himotoshi (cord holes) typical of netsuke construction.

Dimensions (approx.): 6.5 cm (W) x 3.5 cm (H)

Condition
A hairline crack is present along the body, and there is some wear around one of the cord holes. These are consistent with genuine age and handling. Please examine all photos closely, as they accurately reflect the current condition.
