Presenting a deeply historical silver denar from the Kingdom of Hungary, minted under King Vladislaus I (I. Ulászló). Reigning over both Poland and Hungary, this young and ambitious monarch led a massive European crusade against the expanding Ottoman Empire. His life ended tragically and heroically at the Battle of Varna in 1444 at the age of just 20. Coins struck during his brief, 4-year reign were the very currency used to fund this legendary military campaign.
