Arbiter - Soundimension Analoges Delay

This is one of the rarest and most sought-after echo units ever made — a fully working Arbiter Sounddimension magnetic disc echo from approximately 1969, manufactured by Dallas-Arbiter Electronics Ltd in England. The same company that brought you the original Fuzz Face.

ABOUT THIS UNIT:

The Sounddimension is the big brother of the Fender Soundette — Arbiter's upmarket, luxury version featuring additional repeat heads, stereo I/O, and superior build quality. It works on the same principle as the legendary Binson Echorec, using a proprietary oxide-coated spinning magnetic disc rather than tape, producing the dark, warm, self-oscillating echo character that defined the dub and reggae sound. Sir Coxsone Dodd of Studio One used one so heavily that his studio band literally named themselves "Sound Dimension" after the unit.

Controls: Volume, Echo, Duration — plus 4 push-button head selectors (short, medium, long, and combinations), and a Stereo On/Off switch. Two output channels.

CONDITION — INSPECTED AND DESCRIBED HONESTLY:

The unit is in fully working order — motor runs, disc spins, echoes are produced across all head selections. Comes with the original power cable. The chrome/aluminum casing shows expected age-related wear: light scratches and surface marks consistent with a ~55-year-old piece of professional equipment. Nothing structural, nothing disfiguring — just honest vintage character.

Internally, the unit has been recapped with Rubycon capacitors for reliability, while the rest of the circuit remains completely original and intact — including the full complement of NKT275 germanium transistors (the same legendary parts used in early Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Faces). These transistors alone are extraordinarily rare, with pairs fetching triple digits on the open market. This unit has them all, soldered in place exactly where they belong.

The magnetic disc is intact and functioning — the most critical and irreplaceable part of the machine. The proprietary oxide-coated spinning drum is impossible to replace or refurbish, and most surviving units have drums damaged beyond use.
