Up for auction is a highly decorative and historically significant wall chart / liturgical calendar from 1951, depicting the Christian liturgical year in an intricate circular chart. This item originally comes from a church in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.

Design & Details:
The center features the Christogram (Chi-Rho) surrounded by the traditional symbols of the Four Evangelists. The circular diagram displays the Sundays and feast days throughout the church year (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Trinity). The four corners represent the Four Elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Framed by biblical verses and psalms.

Authors & Publisher:
Based on a concept by Karl Bernhard Ritter, illustrated by Annelise Keller and Lisa Hampe. Published by Johannes Stauda-Verlag Kassel (1951), printed by Bärenreiter-Druck Kassel.

Construction:
Printed on canvas with wooden pull-down rods at top and bottom and a leather strap. Includes the original paper title label on the reverse side.

Condition:
In good vintage condition considering its age. Minor age-related spots/patina along the margins (see detailed photos), which add to its authentic vintage charm. No tears in the main artwork. Note on the strap: A section of the original leather strap is missing (please see detailed photos).
