Anthony Trollope (/ˈtrɒləp/ ⓘ TROL-əp; 24. April 1815 – 6. Dezember 1882)[2] war ein englischer Romancier und Beamter der viktorianischen Ära. Zu seinen bekanntesten 47 Romanen gehören zwei Serien mit je sechs Bänden, die zusammen als Chronicles of Barsetshire und die Palliser-Romane bekannt sind, sowie The Way We Live Now. Seine Romane behandeln politische, soziale und geschlechtsspezifische Fragen und andere zeitgenössische Themen.[3] Er verfasste außerdem eine Autobiografie, ein Buch über William Makepeace Thackeray, ein Buch über Lord Palmerston, fünf Reisebücher und 42 Kurzgeschichten.
