Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung

Late Roman – Early Byzantine Bronze Ring with Early Christian Cross Motif
ca. 5.–7. Jahrhundert n. Chr.

A scarce and evocative bronze ring dating to the Late Roman / Early Byzantine period,
featuring a circular bezel engraved with an Early Christian cross motif, likely a stylised
cross-on-steps or cross above symbolic architectural forms. Such imagery is closely
associated with the spread of Christianity in the Eastern Roman Empire and is commonly
found on personal signet and devotional rings of Late Antiquity.

The ring is cast in bronze and displays a deep, stable archaeological patina with brown
and green tones. The engraved design remains clearly legible despite age-related wear,
highlighting its original symbolic purpose.

Important condition note:
The lower section of the hoop is broken, making the ring structurally fragile. It is
therefore recommended that the ring be handled with care and worn only cautiously,
preferrably as a collector’s or display piece rather than for regular wear.

Material: Bronze
Period: Late Roman / Early Byzantine (ca. 5.–7. Jahrhundert n. Chr.)
Ring size: approx. T / U
Inner diameter: approx. 20.6 mm

Condition: Archaeological condition; original patina; hoop broken at base, increasing
fragility

Provenance: From an old European collection A rare and meaningful artefact reflecting the religious and personal identity of the Early Christian world, ideal for collectors of Late Roman and Byzantine antiquities.
