About the original car:

Launched in January 1985, the Porsche 944 Turbo (internally also known as the Type 951) quickly became the flagship of the 944 series. It combined a turbocharged 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine producing 220 hp with an advanced aerodynamic design and a balanced transaxle layout that provided near-perfect weight distribution.

Design and Exterior

- Aerodynamic front: Unique to the Turbo model, featuring integrated fog and full-beam lights in place of the older rubber bumper strips.
- Body: Smoother integrated bumpers, painted rear diffuser and widened wheel arches.
- Headlights: Classic retractable pop-up units.

Performance and Technology

- Engine: M44/51 turbocharged inline-four (2,479 cc).
- Output: 220 hp (162 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 330 Nm of torque.
- Gearbox: 5-speed manual gearbox coupled via rear transaxle.
- Top speed: Around 245–260 km/h depending on measurement, with 0–100 km/h in approximately 6.3 seconds.
