About the original car:

The BMW 3.0 CSi is a classic two-door grand tourer built under the BMW E9 platform by coachbuilder Karmann between July 1971 and November 1975, with precisely 8,100 units produced. It features a 2,985 cc inline-six M30 engine equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection that generates 200 horsepower (147 kW) at 5,500 rpm, enabling a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).
The CSi, like the CS, went out of production in 1975.

Design and Heritage Pillarless Architecture:
Designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister, the E9 Coupé features a graceful greenhouse with thin A and C pillars, the signature "Hofmeister kink," and completely frameless side windows that roll down to create an open-air cabin feel.

The CSi Advantage:
Compared to its sister model the carbureted 3.0 CS, the fuel injected CSi offered an extra 20 horsepower, sharper throttle response, and standard four-wheel disc brakes.

Motorsport Connection:
The E9 structural baseline paved the way for the lightweight 3.0 CSL "Batmobile" homologation specials, which dominated European touring car racing through the 1970s.
