Magnificent, huge Diopside specimen from Farghamiru, Jurm District, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. The specimen consists of a few big, prismatic Diopside crystals, they are unusually big and display an almost perfect, pseudo tetragonal, columnar crystal habit with very regular and attractive striations, perpendicular to the crystals elongation. The transparency is decent, the luster is vitreous to dull, and the coloration is light, moss-green to deep, vivid emerald-green. The prisms sit neatly on a piece of a white with some orange spots Calcite Marble matrix, which provides a nice contrast to the Diopside and allows it to really stick out.
The specimen is in excellent condition, due to its brittleness almost each crystal is chipped.
