Silent Vestige explores the space between abstraction and recognition. Bold black forms emerge from a textured off-white surface, suggesting the presence of something familiar—a figure, a totem, an ancient symbol or perhaps the silhouette of an imagined creature—without ever settling into a single interpretation.

Constructed through layered acrylic, expressive brushwork and MiLo’s characteristic scratched-line technique, the composition reveals subtle traces of its making. Incised lines, textured surfaces and scattered splatters introduce movement and depth, contrasting with the quiet confidence of the larger geometric forms.

Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, the painting invites viewers to form their own associations. Its balance of mass, rhythm and negative space allows the composition to remain open-ended, revealing new relationships and meanings over time.

About the Artist

MiLo (Michiel Lodewijk Schepers, born 1976) is a Dutch contemporary artist whose work explores the relationship between abstraction, gesture and structure. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, he has developed a distinctive visual language characterized by bold forms, layered textures and scratched linear marks that reveal movement beneath the painted surface.

His paintings have found collectors throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Every work is created as a unique original, combining expressive mark-making with a restrained contemporary aesthetic.
