Antique Collectible Swiss Cow
Bells.
Hand-Painted- Chateau Chillon .
Hand made St Laurent
If you like unique and antique decoration pieces, you should love these two antique Swiss brass bells.
They have the different shapes and the motifs,
These authentic antique pieces are great home decoration and brings the Swiss countryside into your home.
A stunning hand painted brass cow or goat bell from Switzerland dated late 19th century.
The bell has a traditional authentic shape which has been beautifully hand painted on one side with a grand castle -Chateau Chillon - situated on the Geneva lake's edge with majestic snow topped mountains in the background. The detailing is superb and I can say that this is a one of most beautiful view near the Alps in Switzerland.
It's in good condition overall, the metal has tarnished up and aged beautifully over the years. The painted side is also looking great, there is crazing and fading etc all over it but this has only enhanced the charm and character of it.
The original donger is present and produces a loud sound when rang - you certainly wouldn't loose a cow with this!
About this castle:
The "Château de Chillon" is a recurring motif in the work of the French painter Gustave Courbet, which he mainly exploited between 1873 and 1876, in the form of oils on canvas.
In 1873, Gustave Courbet arrived in Switzerland
He was drawn to the Château de Chillon, located on the edge of Lake Geneva, just a few miles from La Tour-de-Peilz, where Courbet lived in exile until his death. The château was a frequent tourist destination with a fascinating past.
