Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Name: Japanese Hexagonal Bronze Open‑work Yukimi‑dōrō (雪見灯籠)
Craft: Lost‑wax one‑piece casting, full‑body open‑work carving
Dimensions: approx. H 24.5 cm (9.6 in) × W 25 cm (9.8 in) × D 25 cm (9.8 in)
Weight: 2375 g (5.2 lbs)
Material: Bronze
Period: Late Taishō to Early Shōwa period (c.1910‑1920s)
This hexagonal pavilion‑style Yukimi‑dōrō (雪見灯籠) is a classic bronze decorative object from Japan’s Late Taishō‑Early Shōwa era. One‑piece cast using the traditional lost‑wax technique, it is a quintessential Japanese‑style piece for gardens, tea rooms and entryways, suitable for candle‑lighting, atmospheric styling and interior decoration.
Made in authentic Japanese hexagonal pavilion form, it has a well‑defined hip‑and‑gable roof cast with fine‑detailed Seigaiha (青海波) wave patterns. All six sides are fully decorated with open‑work floral karakusa (唐草) scroll carvings, offering airy transparency and clear depth. A smoothly‑operating hinged side door enables easy placement of tea‑lights or incense sticks. The base features six‑lobed open‑work feet for proper ventilation.
The whole piece is a single solid casting, robust and without welded joints. It bears a natural, mellow age‑developed bronze patina with a thick, tactile surface and genuine antique metallic character. When lit, light streams through the intricate open‑work cut‑outs to create a wonderful ambient atmosphere. A highly characterful traditional Japanese decorative artefact.
Due to age, there is natural oxidation, patina and minor wear from display. The original small bells at the roof corners are missing. Overall condition is good for its age.
