This is a vintage Japanese cast‑iron desktop ornament, one‑piece sand‑cast. Two hares are depicted leaping toward one another atop a rocky base, with powerful dynamic postures and vivid expressions. The hares stand for the mythical moon‑hare (Tsukiusagi 玉兎), an auspicious motif in Japanese tradition. It is suitable for interior display and can also serve as a paperweight (Bunchin 文鎮).

It is entirely one‑piece sand‑cast, retaining the original textured cast‑iron surface. Due to age, natural oxidation and signs of use‑related wear are present. No cracks. Overall condition is good for its age.
