Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
北本岳洋 Kitamoto Gakuyō
A striking Vintage Kutani Ware (Kutani-yaki) vase, created by Kitamoto Gakuyō and marked “岳洋造” (Gakuyō-zō / Made by Gakuyō) on the base. The attribution to Kitamoto Gakuyō is supported by Japanese-market records listing Kutani works under his name, while other examples are also recorded as works of the Gakuyō kiln.
Shipping method: DHL Express
The vase features a rich emerald-green to turquoise gradient glaze, enhanced by a fine network of natural-looking glaze crackle that gives the surface depth and character.
Three elegant white egrets/herons are boldly depicted among reeds. Their bodies and feathers are rendered with raised relief and incised detailing, creating a sculptural three-dimensional effect against the vivid green background. Delicate painted accents in dark brown and yellow define the birds’ long beaks and facial features.
The mouth is finished with a refined gold-painted rim, adding an elegant contrast to the deep green glaze and emphasizing the formal appearance of the piece.
With its substantial dimensions and weight of approximately 2 kg, this is an impressive decorative vase with a strong visual presence. It represents the colorful decorative tradition associated with Kutani ware while presenting a particularly elegant combination of emerald green, white relief decoration, and gold accents.
Use: Suitable as a flower vase, decorative display vase, or as a centerpiece for a Japanese-inspired interior.
