The heads of princesses carved out of quartzite are striking because of their elongated skull shapes. They are among the most independent works of the Amarna sculptors. Any attempt at a medical explanation is doomed to failure here. In their expressive style, these heads bear witness to the new art movement under Akhenaten.

Głowa księżniczki z Tell el-Amarna to jedno z najbardziej intrygujących dzieł sztuki starożytnego Egiptu z okresu amarneńskiego (ok. 1353–1336 p.n.e.), przypisywane najczęściej Meritaton, najstarszej córce faraona Echnatona i królowej Nefertiti. Ta wykonana z żółtobrązowego kwarcytu rzeźba o wysokości 21 cm została odkryta w 1912 roku przez Niemieckie Towarzystwo Orientalne (Deutsche Orient-Gesellschaft) w ruinach warsztatu nadwornego rzeźbiarza Totmesa w Tell el-Amarna. Obecnie jej najważniejsze egzemplarze i warianty można podziwiać w Muzeum Egipskim w Kairze oraz w Neues Museum w Berlinie.
