Greece – 20 Drachmai Silver Coins, 1960

Lot of 4 Greek 20 Drachmai silver coins, dated 1960, issued during the reign of King Paul I of Greece (1947–1964).

The obverse features the portrait of King Paul I facing left, with the Greek inscription “ΠΑΥΛΟΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ” (“Paul, King of the Hellenes”) and the date 1960.

The reverse depicts Amphitrite, wife of Poseidon, riding a sea creature above waves and a dolphin, with the denomination 20 ΔΡΧ. The design was created by Greek engraver Vasos Falireas. (Numista⁠)

Each coin is struck in .835 silver, weighs approximately 7.5 g and measures about 26.2 mm in diameter. The 1960 issue has an edge inscription referring to the Kingdom of Greece. (Numista⁠)
