An older, vintage Eames Lounge Chair with its matching ottoman, dating from the Mid-century period.

This particular set is an early Herman Miller production, manufactured by licence holder Contura. The chair and ottoman feature beautifully shaped plywood shells finished in rosewood veneer, combined with black leather upholstery—a classic combination, and for good reason.

The construction is exactly what makes this design so special: moulded plywood shells connected by shock mounts, giving the chair its characteristic comfort and flexibility. The original label markings are still visible in the wood.

Condition

The set is in neat vintage condition.

Both the chair and ottoman show signs of use that are appropriate for their age. These traces give the set a genuine vintage appearance—after all, a proper vintage chair is allowed to show that it has lived a little.

The wooden shells of both the chair and ottoman have recently been completely re-oiled. This feeds and protects the rosewood while bringing back its warm colour and beautiful grain.
